About Us
Owner, Lyn Evans lives in North Austin near Lake Travis. As a graphic designer since 1985, she has owned several printing companies and graphic design firms. She has been involved in the art business for the last 15 years and she and her husband own an artists' representative company, The Ancient Ones. As an art collector, as well as a dealer, she is knowledgeable about Southwestern art including pottery, rugs, jewelry, and kachina dolls! She is also well versed in works by contemporary artists and collaborates with galleries across the country.
Fifteen years ago, she began an antique business, first buying and selling to individuals and consignment stores, then selling in an antique mall in Round Rock, Texas and then setting up at local antique shows and selling on eBay. From 2002-2007, she volunteered two or three days a week at a local non-profit consignment store as an estimator, display artist and merchandiser. She brings to the table expansive retail experience, as well as an inate sense of style and design, enabling her to "stage" your home to its maximum effect.
For the past 20 months, Transitions has done an "estate sale in a shop" at Mesa Drive and Spicewood Springs and expanded in the same building in April 2011. A four-day sale is held here every 2-3 weeks. We recently added another 700 square foot expansion with an additional showroom!
Staff
Manager, Janet Epstein, has a wide background in retail sales beginning with a 5 year stint at Next to New, a local consignment store, where she coordinated furniture delivery, pricing and merchandising before moving on in her career at Neiman Marcus upon their debut here in Austin. She brings expertise, organization, customer service, and a sparkling smile to our business.
Asst. Manager, Sharon Smith just moved back here in April from a three-year "visit" to California. As a dealer herself, Sharon has an eye for detail so she is instrumental in helping us price as well as a real asset in closing sales. She heads our eBay sales department as well.
Merchandise Coordinator, Sandy Chism, our former manager, has such an eye for display! She also helps us with house preps and sales.
Helen Strickland has had a love of antiques her entire life. As the owner of Nonie's Attic, she brings us beautiful hand-picked items to resale as well as the expertise to tackle any job we give her! She helps us with setup and sales, as well as helping us keep our shop shining.
Vallorie Thomas has been in the business of buying and selling antiques, collectibles, and vintage items for the last twelve years. She is an experienced Ebay seller with an Ebay store. Her strong organizational skills are her top quality.
Carmen Johnson is one classy lady from her gorgeous sparkly earrings to her sweet little Ferregamos. She knows all about fashion, china, and you can find her at our jewelry counter expounding on her favorite subject! She also helps us prep homes and with sales.
Douglas Kelley comes to us from a prestigious antique shop in Houston where he gleaned years of knowledge from them. A professional furniture restorer, he has been invaluable lately to bring "lost treasures" back to life! During the week you will find him laboriously applying finishes and selling those same beauties on weekends.
Jim Williamson has been selling all his life and works only part-time on weekends for us! He is also our handyman, painter, janitor, deliveryman, and anything else we need!
Clem Evans, Lyn's husband, also helps out WHEREVER we need him and keeps Lyn happy. Also a sales veteran, you will see his smiling face on our sale weekends as our greeter, salesman, and carryout guy.
Danny McGraw provides us with a big delivery truck or his smaller pickup to deliver purchases to your home or bring in all our awesome merchandise to the shop. He also supplies muscles to move furniture and hang art! He is available evenings or on weekends.
